Twenty years anniversary of SISP

Last Christmas was a very special time; in December 2016 we have celebrated SISP’s 20 Years Anniversary!

First we invited all the families and old aged that we are supporting, to join us for a special tea where they all got a packet with food and sanitary items. Their gratitude for SISP’s help in the past was touching and encouraging. Later all children got their Christmas packet with new dress and shoes (an annual sponsoring by SISP Belgium). Female staff got a new sari and gents a new shirt, all in the same design to wear at our celebration day.

The celebration day itself started with a delicious breakfast for all, followed by a special sports day where SISP students, old-SISP students, Skate- and Surf Club members and all staff joined together in different team- and individual games. After the games an amazing lunch was ready! There was a delicious buffet for all of us and for our guests, with typical vegetarian and non-vegetarian Kerala dishes. There was more than enough for everybody.

Every free moment of the previous weeks had been used by both teachers and students, to show their best performances on stage. We could enjoy songs, dance, drama and some special speeches. They showed SISP’s development in the past 20 years, from Literacy classes at a small office at Kovalam beach to our SISP Free Second Chance Education Centre at our beautiful building just behind Kovalam Junction. The different projects from the past years, SEP, the social workers and the work they did and still do for our beneficiaries, Skate Club and Surf Club, ... Everybody was very pleased to see all the beautiful, funny, sometimes emotional, but at the end always joyful performances. At the end of all activities, Paul sir cut a big birthday cake sponsored by our partners in Europe, so everybody could share a piece of it. We went all home after a long and intensive day; satisfied and happy after this special celebration at our Centre.

SISP has made a positive change in many lives and we can be very proud to be part of it! We all hope to continue Sebastian Indian Social Projects for many more years!
